Primer bulb not filling
Replaced plug. Then discovered that it was not getting fuel. Removed carb and cleaned it. Upon further inspection, noted that the fuel line in the tank had totally disintegrated to the point that the fuel filter was rattling in the tank. Totally replaced all fuel line. They pull fuel through the carb (on the out stroke) and return it to the tank (on the in stroke) to purge the air from the fuel line. The .1% that do spray also pull the fuel as above. The bulb should always fill with fuel.

If it is leave the gas cap off and remove the hose from the carb and try to blow through it to be sure hose is not collapsed.Push the primer and listen for a squeak sound that means it's working.If not remove the primer bulb part of carb to inspect and clean if needed.Apr 8, 2016. #2. Squirt a bit of fuel down the carb throat and try to start it....if it fires you know its not getting fuel and its the fuel system. V.This should suck and hold your finger. Do the same to the outlet of the primer, the line that returns to the tank. This side should blow when the bulb is pressed. If the bulb checks good then a restriction in the fuel system, filter lines or carb is likely the problem. The bulb is brand new and built onto the carb.

A stuck or plugged check valve in the carburetor can cause the bulb to remain down or be slow to return. A plugged fuel filter can do the same. Remove the filter and repeat the test.
